CHECK IT OUT!
He is not only a tyrant but a heartless father that drove his kins their deathbeds.
Stalin's first wife was Ekaterina Svanidze, to whom he was married for just three years until her death in 1907. At her funeral, Stalin said that any warm feelings he had for people died with her, for only she could mend his heart. With her he had a son, Yakov Dzhugashvili, with whom he did not get along in later years. Yakov served in the Red Army and was captured by the Nazis. They offered to exchange him for a German officer, but Stalin turned the offer down, allegedly saying "I have no son named Yakov," and Yakov is said to have died running into an electric fence in the camp where he was being held. This however, is the "official report", and to this day, his cause of death is not known. Nonetheless, there are many who believe his death was a suicide.
His second wife was Nadezhda Alliluyeva, who died in 1932; she may have committed suicide by shooting herself after a quarrel with Stalin, leaving a suicide note which according to their daughter was "partly personal, partly political"{{ref|Koba}}. "Officially", she died of an illness, but other theories claim that Stalin himself killed her. It is alleged that Stalin had said "She died an enemy," at her funeral. With her, he had two children: a son, Vassili, and a daughter, Svetlana. Vassili rose through the ranks of the Soviet Air Force, but died an alcoholic in 1962. Stalin doted on Svetlana when she was young, but she ended up defecting from the Soviet Union in 1967.

After reading the background of Stalin's family, i just felt a huge disgust towards Stalin. Not only did he tyrannize the people of Russia, but also his own family members. His strict regime and harshness drove many of his family members to suicide. This tells me the depth of depression he had brought upon his family, his kinsmen. Many of his family members could have probably one way or another tried to stand up against this ruthless dictator. However anyone who stood up against him in one way or another, were brutally tortured or executed. His family members were not an exception too.
This was probably the reason why many of them committed suicide as they could not stand Stalin's influence in their lives. In other articles, his daughter Svetlana wrote revealingly about Stalin's very closely guarded private life. There were also reports on Stalin being very abusive toward Alliluyeva later in life, recalling an event in his memoirs in which Stalin, during a drunken rage at a party, dragged a crying Alliluyeva onto a dance floor by her hair.
He was not as i thought someone who just gave instructions but sat behind a desk. I did not know that he was also physically abusive towards his children too. He was not a fatherly figure to his children, as a result, many of them turned to wrong ways. His wives too, died one after another; both dying not long after marrying to Stalin. You may say that he could be a jinx but i felt he was more like a poison that made people suffer a long and hard death.
Usually a family should be the people that protect and love you. But from this example, i could sense no love between Stalin and his family members. If i were his children, i would have thought that my mere existence was just probably to be used by Stalin, eg. propaganda etc. Can you imagine having a father that acts all heroic in front of the country, having his face shown at almost all corners of the city but at home, there is no such thing as a father. If i were in the shoes of Stalin's children, i would also turn to suicidal and it will be all because of the oppression from him. In conclusion, i can say that not only has Stalin failed as a ruler but also as a parental figure.
